Dental hygiene under a microscope according to GBT protocol
The basic hygiene procedure is the removal of tartar and plaque build-up, i.e. scaling. In our clinic, such a procedure is performed exclusively under a microscope by qualified staff. The whole hygiene treatment is done according to GBT protocol (GUIDED BIOFILM THERAPY) which consists of 8 steps:
- Evaluate – very careful examination of the health of the oral cavity.
- Disclose – or making the biofilm visible to help remove it. After the biofilm is removed, calculus becomes easier to see and remove.
- Motivate – showing the patient how to properly look after the health of their oral cavity.
- AirFlow – or the removal of stains, biofilm or early calculus using a special tool which applies a jet of warm water and very fine sand to delicately and very precisely clean above and under the gums additionally removing biofilm from the tongue, the gums and the palette.
- PerioFlow – is the sanding of deep periodontal pockets and implant pockets.
- Piezon – or the removal of the remaining calculus using ultrasound, the scaler.
- Quality control – checking whether all biofilm has been removed.
- New recall– scheduling next appointment.
During the procedure, our certified hygienists will show you how to take care of your oral hygiene every day and help you choose the right type of toothbrush. Thanks to the use of a microscope during calculus removal (scaling), it is as precise and comfortable as possible for patients.
How often should dental hygiene be performed?
As a rule, dental hygiene should be repeated every 6 months, but many patients have to do it, depending on the need, even every 2-3 months. These patients primarily include the ones with periodontal disease, for whom tooth cleaning is the basis for periodontal disease prevention. The procedure of removing tartar and plaque build-up is also recommended before tooth extraction, implantation, before fitting orthodontic braces and before teeth whitening. It is worth noting that in our clinic, tartar build-ups are removed using scalers with adjustable vibration intensity, which allows you to avoid unpleasant sensations.
Teeth whitening at Długosz & Długosz clinic
Many people dream of a healthy, dazzlingly white smile. Thanks to the latest Philips Zoom whitening lamp, we can offer you safe and effective whitening. Advanced technology combined with the ergonomics of the device provide the patient with high comfort during whitening, minimizing unpleasant sensations.
What does the teeth whitening procedure look like at Długosz & Długosz clinic:
For the whitening procedure to be completely safe and effective, we must first of all treat all cavities. Tartar and plaque build-ups should also be removed in a dental hygiene treatment before whitening. The fee for teeth whitening depends on the selected option.
The whitening procedure with a Philips Zoom lamp consists of several 15-minute sessions. A special gel used in the whitening process uses the patented “photo-fentom” reaction, which takes place between the hydrogen peroxide in the gel and iron.
This combination is referred to as “discoloration conqueror”. We can expect to obtain the effect of teeth that are on average 3-4 shades whiter. Remember, however, that the final effect of whitening depends primarily on the individual predispositions of each of us. Thanks to the ability to adjust the intensity of the whitening lamp during the procedure, our hygienists are able to minimize the unpleasant feeling of hypersensitivity. Additionally, to enjoy the whitening effect for longer, we offer you individual whitening kits to take home. Remember, however, that for teeth whitening to be completely safe, the teeth must be first examined by a dentist or dental hygienist. It is best to entrust your smile to professionals, thanks to whom the whitening procedure will be effective and safe.
