MALOCCLUSSION
Malocclusion means improper alignment of the lower and upper teeth, but also of the temporomandibular joint and muscles.
MAKEOVER
A 26-year-old patient reported a midline shift. Occlusal treatment was applied, consisting of deprogramming and then rebuilding the teeth in the lateral sections using onlays and all-ceramic crowns. The treatment was completed with the fitting of full ceramic veneers in the aesthetic zone on the upper teeth.
Malocclusion does not improve by itself
Malocclusion never heals by itself, and it worsens with age. If left untreated, it can lead to the development of periodontitis, tooth loss, and damage to prosthetic restorations (crowns and bridges). It can also result in sleep apnoea.
