Microscopic endodontics
Root canal treatment under a microscope is sometimes the last chance to save a tooth with inflammation of the dental pulp. Endodontic treatment under a microscope consists in cleaning the tooth chamber and its roots from inflammatory tissue under very high magnification.
This is possible thanks to a microscope that provides over twenty-fold magnification of the treatment area. Each of our dental practices is equipped with a high-class Leica microscope. With such high magnification, a dentist is able to shorten the time of root canal treatment and fill the tooth canals very precisely. This is extremely important because, unlike other dental procedures, endodontic treatment should only be performed once. The fees for root canal treatment under a microscope vary greatly. They depend on the number of canals the tooth has and on whether the procedure will be performed for the first time or again.
Root canal re-treatment under a microscope – what is re-endo?
Inaccurate or incorrect root canal treatment most often results in the need to do it again. This procedure is usually more complicated and longer. New dental tools, endometers and a precise surgical microscope come to the rescue. A dentist with the right knowledge and experience can precisely find the root canal openings in such a situation, determine their exact length, prepare them and finally fill them tightly to the very apex. This is a tedious and complicated process.
How long does root canal treatment under a microscope take?
A few years ago, root canal treatment meant a tedious process divided into several visits. In the case of root canal treatment under a microscope, in most cases we are able to minimize the number of visits to one longer visit of one and a half to two hours.
Our dentists are members of the Polish Endodontic Society.
Root canal treatment under a microscope at Długosz & Długosz Clinic in Kraków
Thanks to root canal treatment, you can save teeth from extraction and its consequences. Teeth that have been properly endodontically treated (root canal treatment) can be used as, for example, bridge pillars. They qualify for crowns and do not constitute a source of infection for the entire body as inflammatory foci. The use of the latest technological materials and devices for this purpose means that teeth that until recently qualified for extraction are clinically of full value.
Our clinic has equipment which significantly increases the chances of successful endodontic treatment. These are Leica M300 surgical microscopes, endometers, endodontic micromotors, mechanical nickel-titanium instruments and radiovisiography, i.e. digital X-ray. The knowledge and skills of our dentists in the field of endodontics are systematically improved during training courses and sessions organized by the Polish Endodontic Society.
